A fridge in Dubai has a harder life than one in Europe. Kitchens get hot, and fridges placed in laundry rooms, garages or tucked into tight cabinets get even hotter. The compressor runs longer and the fans work harder, so faults show up sooner.

Helping your fridge last
- Vacuum the dust off the back or the grille underneath twice a year.
- Don't block the air vents inside the fridge with food containers.
- Let hot food cool before putting it in.
- Wipe door seals with warm soapy water. Sticky seals tear.
- Set the fridge to around 4°C and the freezer to -18°C. Colder isn't better.
Fridge repair questions
The freezer works but the fridge is warm. What's wrong?
On noFrost models the fridge is cooled by cold air from the freezer, blown through a small duct. If ice builds up and blocks that duct, the fridge warms while the freezer stays cold. The cause is usually the defrost system: the defrost heater, its sensor, or the fan. It's one of the most common fridge repairs we do.
Why is there water under the crisper drawers?
The defrost water drains out through a small channel at the back of the fridge. When that channel gets blocked with food debris, the water overflows into the fridge instead. Clearing and flushing the drain usually fixes it.
My fridge is running all the time. Is it about to break?
Not necessarily. In summer, a fridge in a hot kitchen will run longer, which is normal. If it runs constantly and still isn't cold, check the door seals close properly and the back of the fridge isn't packed against a wall or covered in dust. If it's still struggling, it may be low on refrigerant or the condenser fan may have stopped.
Can you re-gas a fridge?
Yes, but only after finding the leak. Adding refrigerant without fixing the leak just means the fridge will warm up again in a few weeks. We find the leak, repair it, and then recharge the system.
Should I switch my fridge off and on to reset it?
It's fine once. If it starts cooling again and then fails a day or two later, that's a sign of a defrost fault. Leaving the doors open to melt the ice will get you a few days but won't fix the cause.
